Le Mans 24 Heures, June 13-14, 2009
The 2008 Le Mans 24 Heures saw a record crowd of 258,500 - the race is one of the most evocative and addictive endurance races in the world! The 2008 race was an epic with cliffhangers in each of Le Mans' four classes - two for prototypes and two for GTs. The much touted Audi v Peugeot challenge lived up to all the hype - the lead changed 25 times and the final margin was only 4 minutes and 31 seconds in favour of the Audi team.

It is not only a race for the die-hard motorsport fan but as much for the casual fan out to enjoy a hugely entertaining weekend. And the support for Le Mans is immense! One of the moments of the weekend is the long convoy of colourful British cars that weave their way down to Le Mans or the Friday atmosphere in Arnage village. There is also plenty of official action leading up to the race with the superb drivers' parade through the centre of Le Mans at 18:00. Then come the race, through sun and rain, through day and night.

 

 

Circuit Camping

Camping during the 24 Heures is a mixture of comraderie, fun and living on the wild side. There are a number of campsites around the circuit. Large groups may wish to consider organising their own private campsite. On Site can organise a VIP campsite close to the action for a large corporate or group.

For 2008, we are holding a variety of official campsite places. These campsites and "lay-bys" are inside the circuit and close to the action. All camping and lay-by areas are available from Wednesday before the race until the following Monday. Parking is included for one vehicle, within the camping emplacement (7m x 5m). There is a supplement payable locally in euros for staying June 09-10. Camping areas have toilets, showers and electrical connections. "Lay-by" camping areas have toilets and water but no showers or electrical connections.

Ferry Accommodation

For Brittany Ferries, it is mandatory to purchase cabins (if available) for the Portsmouth & Poole overnight crossings: 

  • 4 Berth cabin - Price guide, £95 each way, cost dependent on choice & availability
  • 2 Berth cabin - Price guide, £70 each way, cost dependent on choice & availability (Not available ex Poole)

For P&O Ferries, the following is available on the Dover-Calais-Dover crossing: 

  • P&O Priority Boarding & Disembarkation, £14 per car, each way
  • P&O Reserved Club Chair, £12 per person, each way

Similarly, for Eurotunnel, Flexiplus (Club Class) travel is available at £59 each way. FlexiPlus fares are perfect for travellers requiring convenience and flexibility - turn up early or late; you can travel on the next available shuttle.  If you wish to amend your booking you can do so at no extra cost. As a FlexiPlus customer you have use of exclusive Check-in booths and you will be offered the next available departure.
